As our Head of Brand and Health Engagement, you’ll be responsible for managing a team to produce sector-leading, highly effective, marketing campaigns and customer journeys, inspiring more people to engage with and support the British Heart Foundation (BHF) and its lifesaving work.
Every penny counts so each piece of activity needs to achieve demonstrable results, driving active support and engagement with the BHF aligned with our brand & marketing strategies. You’ll champion effectiveness within your own team and take a lead role in the development of integrated marketing communications.
Working with peers, this role will ensure the integration of activity across all the BHF’s marketing communications and challenge agencies and in-house teams to develop the most effective approach.
Crucial to making sure activity is effective and delivers against targets will be the successful leadership of the Brand and Health Engagement team – a team which will need to work at pace and with clear direction.
As part of the BHF leadership team you will identify, recommend, and implement continuous improvements in ways of working.
Working arrangements
This is a 12-month fixed term contract, covering an internal secondment.
This is a blended role, where your work will be dual located between your home and our London Office.
At the BHF we believe in the power of being together, so our colleagues on blended contracts can expect to spend some time in their office, at least two days each week, on average. The use of our office spaces is driven in part by your role and the activities you need to do. This may vary from time to time, so you will need to work in a flexible way to unlock your best work for our cause.
In addition, the role involves regular attendance at the offices of our London-based agency partners.

About you
As our perfect candidate, you bring significant marketing communications experience including briefing creative and media agencies for the development/delivery of multi-channel through the line campaigns (TV, digital, print, and social content) and end to end customer journey planning (online and offline).
A strategic and self-motivated individual who can be both innovative and creative, you have experience of tracking campaign results, ROI modelling, and managing significant creative and media budgets.
Your knowledge and expertise will span brand strategy, agency, and campaign management. With proven leadership ability, including the recruitment and alignment of teams, you combine an open and approachable style of working with strong management and leadership. This leadership ability will help you galvanise a broad range of individuals across British Heart Foundation to work together and align behind campaigns.
A flexible team player with excellent influencing, negotiating and communication skills, you bring experience of managing internal and external stakeholders including agencies and suppliers.

The Marketing Communications Planning Manager is responsible for planning and ensuring the delivery of a strategically aligned plan for the Marketing and Communications Team. · Identifying opportunities for integrated activity – play a key role in aligning marketing communications activity so plans are more cohesive and joined up.
· Manage the organisational communication calendar – work with teams across the charity to agree and implement quarterly external communication priorities, enabling us to be more joined up in our comms planning.
· Manage key brand and marketing campaigns – responsible for leading key brand and marketing campaigns, including; writing key messaging, managing project groups; having oversight of activity and working with channel leads (eg social media, email, design, media) and creative team to deliver the activity.
· Build our bank of insight and research – analyse results from marketing activity, interrogate our brand tracker monthly results, follow the latest trends and monitor what other charities are doing.
· Report on results – gather data on campaign results and create reports to show what worked and what was less effective for different audiences and channels.
· Project management – monitor cost, timescales and resources, assessing and recommending actions where variances from the plan occur.
· Agency management – manage external agencies in delivering campaigns and content.
Person Specification:
· Experience of marketing communications planning and managing integrated marketing, digital and communications campaigns.
· Managing and delivering against budgets and reporting on KPIs.
· Understanding of the needs of internal and external stakeholders, and using audience insight to deliver effective strategies.

We are looking for a Welsh speaking Funding Officer to join our team in Wales. This is a permanent, full-time post (open to a conversation on flexible working and job share)

Taking responsibility for leading the charity’s Fundraising function, which sits as part of our Income generation team, this role will include delivering towards your own individual targets as well as line management of two team members to cover all income linked to fundraising (such as community fundraising, company fundraising, Brake led fundraising events and fundraising attached to Brake campaigns and projects such as Road Safety Week) and may include working with the Corporate Partnerships Team Lead to support other income generating activity.

The New Economics Foundation, one of the UK’s leading progressive think tanks, is looking for an experienced strategic leader to help oversee its finance, operations and governance.
Our current Director of Finance and Operations, who leaves us in mid-2024, has worked hard to stabilise our finances, improve our systems, and promote an inclusive and productive workplace. We have a solid base to build from – whether it’s the long lease on our premises on Albert Embankment or several long-term programmes of work – and are looking for a Chief Operating Officer (COO) to help us improve our business model, support excellent financial and operational support, and deliver excellent project management and resourcing.
NEF offers generous terms and conditions, including a salary in the range of £78-87k per annum for a 32-hour working week that can be worked flexibly. Most colleagues work two days a week (usually Tuesdays and Wednesdays) in our office in central London, but that can be adjusted up or down depending on preferences. I applied to join NEF because it is one of the UK’s largest and most-respected progressive think tanks, with a nearly 40 years track record of producing radical ideas and influencing policymaking to deliver a more just and sustainable world. From global debt justice to retrofitting homes, from the Happy Planet Index to campaigning for a 4-day working week, from promoting local economic development to championing the Green New Deal, NEF has been arguing for an economics as if people and planet mattered.
Since starting at NEF in January 2024, I have been impressed by the quality of our work and people, the influence we have on policymakers and opinion-formers, and the respect we are held in. That said, from climate change to rising inequality, the challenges the world faces are immense. With the incoming Chair and colleagues, we are embarking on a strategy refresh to identify where and how NEF can make the greatest difference. I am confident that we will have a clear and compelling strategy by the second half of 2024.
I believe this is an excellent time to join the think tank sector. The world needs radical new ideas and workable solutions.
